- Operate mini excavators, skid steers, and related equipment to dig trenches, expose utilities, and prepare job sites.
- Assist in sewer line replacements, water service repairs, and other underground plumbing services.
- Work with plumbers to expose and protect existing utilities without causing damage.
- Backfill and grade job sites after repairs, ensuring they’re safe, clean, and restored properly.
- Load and unload equipment from trailers and transport to job sites as needed.
- Maintain equipment and perform basic inspections to ensure safe operation.
- Follow all safety procedures and job site protocols to protect yourself, the team, and the customer’s property.
- Support the plumbing team as needed with general labor or material handling during service calls
- Must register as a plumbing apprentice and attend plumbing school if not already a licensed Journeyman or Master plumber.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and good driving record. CDL is a plus but not required.
- Skilled in safely operating mini excavators, skid steers, and similar machinery.
- Follows safety protocols to protect self, team, and property.
- Accurately digs near utilities and restores sites properly.
- Works effectively with plumbers and crew members.
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks in various conditions.
- Performs basic inspections and maintenance on equipment.
- Understanding of underground utility safety and dig practices (experience with 811 utility locates is a plus).
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in various outdoor conditions.
- Willingness to assist with general plumbing tasks as needed.
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent on the job.
- Able to understand and follow instructions and site protocols.
- Open to training and required plumbing education/apprenticeship.
